Staff

Hornsey Wood Green NHS GP consists of 2x GP’s (doctors), 1x Practice Nurses, 1x HCA's, a Practice Manager, 1x Pharmacist, 1x Social Prescriber and 3 Administrative staffs. Together we provide a full range of general practice services and run a number of specialist clinics.

The Doctors

Dr Mahmoud Asgheddi (m)

MB BS, MRCGP

Dr Mahmoud graduated from Imeprial College London in 2011 with a degree in Medicine and a Bachelor's in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has trained in a variety of specialities on the road to becoming a GP and this includes Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology as well as Obstetrics and gynaecology. He maintains a keen interest in dermatology.

Dr Fatima Shaik (f)

MB BS, MRCGP

Dr Fatima Shaik is one of our regular female locum doctors who provides exceptional care and service for the patients. She has an interest in children's medicine (paediatrics) as well as woman's health. She is available every Wednesday at the surgery.

Dr Muhammed Akunjee (m)

Muhammed Akunjee is currently a GP Principal in North London (since 2007) and is a former Clinical Director and board member of the local CCG. He qualified from Guy’s, Kings and St. Thomas’s Medical School in 2002 and completed his MRCGP gaining a distinction in 2006. During this time he was also awarded first prize for the Roche / RCGP Registrar award. He completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Dundee, a Certificate in Diabetes at the Warwick University and more recently a Certificate in Business Management at the University of Liverpool.

He also attended the London Deanery's, Introduction to Teaching in Primary care course before involving himself in teaching medical students and has been a clinical skills tutor as well as an OSCE examiner at a London Medical University. He is an avid medical book writer and has a number of articles published in peer review journals. Dr Muhammed Akunjee has worked abroad in the Middle East advising a large health care organisation on setting up primary care polyclinics creating both the medical model and the business case. He is currently a GP registrar trainer as well as an NHS GP appraiser.

Nurses

Mary Thomas (f)

Mary Thomas is one of our senior nurses who also runs joint maternity/baby clinics with one of the doctors in the surgery. She also performs routine childhood immunisation clinics, female smears, travel clinics and flu injections. She has an extensive background having trained in ITU in the hospital setting

Practice Manager

Nneka Emeka BA (comp) MBA, MA (finance, accounting)

BA (comp sc.), MBA, MA (finance, accounting, organisational behaviour)

Nneka has trained in a wide array of fields before joining the surgery as the current practice manager. She did her undergraduate degree in computer science, before doing master degrees in finance, accounting and then an MBA. She is also our in-house HealthCare Assistant, helping assess patients with chronic long term conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure and respiratory complaints
